Sculpted by Ohio artist Alan H. Hamwi, this 'on edge' cast bronze piece is a lifesize likeness of the bobcats that are frequently found near and sometimes on (!) the campus.
The Golden Bobcat or "Boomer" is UC Merced's official mascot. The sculpture is located at the crest of the Scholars Lane Bridge and was commissioned by the Class of 2007 as its class gift.
